GreatCall Wins Andrew Seybold’s 2007 Choice
Wireless Technology Award for Best New Company
Jitterbug Dial and Jitterbug OneTouch Honored for Innovation and Ease-of-Use
Orlando, Fla. – April 2, 2007 – GreatCall, Inc., a unique provider of cellular handsets
and services, announced today its win at the Andrew Seybold Choice Awards ceremony
for the category Best New Company. The 2007 awards were presented at an invitationonly
dinner at the CTIA conference, attended by 300 of the wireless industry's most
prominent executives. CEO Arlene Harris, along with GreatCall co-founder and cell
phone pioneer Marty Cooper, accepted the award. GreatCall’s offering includes easy-touse
Jitterbug phones with friendly, 24/7 operator service for a uniquely simplified cell
phone experience. GreatCall was joined by other Andrew Seybold Choice Award
recipients, Disney Mobile for “Disney Mobile” and Verizon Wireless for “Field Force
Manager.”
The Andrew Seybold Choice Awards have come to be recognized throughout the
industry for their ability to identify cutting-edge products and services that offer
innovation and impact to both wireless providers and end-users. Finalists were selected in
six categories from a wide range of international companies. In addition to winning Best New
company, GreatCall received the most nominations for this year’s awards, finishing
as a runner-up in three categories: Most Innovative Wireless Devices, Most Innovative New Service
by a Wireless Operator or MNVO, and Most Innovative New Design Concept.
"Each of this year's award winners has made significant progress in simplifying the user
experience, which is critical to expansion in the wireless industry," said Seybold. "The
winning companies have developed and earned an edge that helps them attract and retain
customers in this competitive industry; innovation is what keeps them ahead, and it is
what drives continued progress from firms throughout the wireless sector."
“In a field of formidable innovations and top-notch companies, we're honored that the
Andrew Seybold team recognizes our contribution in bringing simplicity and ease-of-use
to wireless consumers,” said Harris. “Complex devices - so prevalent today - leave many
people with ‘function fatigue,’ inhibiting a large segment of the population from enjoying
the safety and convenience that cell phones can offer. Jitterbug is a positive alternative: a
simple, straightforward mobile experience that allows customers to adopt at their own
pace,” said Harris.
