Arlene Harris, Founder and Chairwoman of Jitterbug®, Wins
Prestigious ATHENA San Diego Pinnacle Award

Harris Created Jitterbug to Simplify the Cellular User Experience

Del Mar, Calif. – May 5, 2008 – Jitterbug today announced that its Founder and Chairwoman and wireless veteran, Arlene Harris, received the 2008 ATHENA Pinnacle Award in Technology for her industry-leading achievements with Jitterbug. ATHENA, the premier organization for executive women in San Diego associated with the Rady School of Management at University of California at San Diego (UCSD), presents this award to prominent San Diego executives and companies in Technology, Life Sciences, and Engineering.

Jitterbug’s mission is to improve people’s lives by simplifying technology for consumers while using cutting edge technology. Jitterbug simplifies the entire user experience with a phone that is easy to use and wireless service that is friendly and affordable.

Harris and her husband Marty Cooper, who invented the first portable cellular phone, conceived of Jitterbug to address the needs of consumers who have been confused by complicated cell phones and services. By contrast, Jitterbug’s proprietary targeted cellular phone manufactured by Samsung, intuitive interface and personalized services create the ultimate simpler cell phone experience.

“It’s particularly great to receive this recognition on behalf of the many accomplished Southern California women who helped create the Jitterbug experience,” said Harris. “I’m especially honored to be recognized beside so many great women in technology and life sciences here in our tech-centric San Diego community. There’s a fantastic opportunity for us to work together to lead the nation in helping solve our many healthcare woes.” Next week Harris will present at the third annual Wireless Life Sciences Conference held in San Diego for senior executives in the healthcare and communications fields.

With Harris’s vision, Jitterbug has enjoyed rapid growth since its November 2006 launch, satisfying tens of thousands of customers across the U.S. Jitterbug has received prominent national media accolades from the Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, The New York Times, Washington Post and major TV broadcast networks. Substantial recognition and awards include Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Associations 2007 design award, the esteemed Andrew Seybold Choice Award for Best New Wireless Company of 2007, finalist for CES’s 2007 Last Gadget Standing competition, New York Times’ Top 10 Brilliant Ideas and Reader’s Digest 100 Best Products.
