GreatCall, Inc. and Company Founder Arlene Harris Named as Finalists in 5th
Annual Stevie
® Awards for Women in Business

Stevies Recognize Accomplishments in Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Business
Leadership among Women Executives and their Companies

San Diego, Calif. – October 15, 2008 – GreatCall, Inc., creators of the Jitterbug simple cell phone and service, announced today that the company and its Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Arlene Harris, are being recognized in the “Best Overall Company of the Year—Service Businesses” and “Technology Innovator of the Year” categories in the 5th Annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, and the companies they run—worldwide. The Stevie Awards have been hailed as the world’s premier business awards.

Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word “crowned,” winners will be announced during a gala event at the Marriott Marquis hotel in New York on Friday, November 14. Nominated women executives and entrepreneurs from the U.S. and several other countries are expected to attend.

More than 1,200 entries were submitted for consideration in 50 categories, including Best Executive, Best Entrepreneur, and Best Community Involvement Program. GreatCall and Arlene Harris have been named a finalist in two of these 50 categories, joining women executives representing GlaxoSmithKline, Travelocity, AARP, and Build-A-Bear Workshop.

GreatCall’s mission, through its Jitterbug phones and service, is to improve people’s lives by using cutting-edge technology to help users more easily keep in touch. Jitterbug simplifies the entire user experience with a phone that is uncomplicated and wireless service that is friendly and affordable.

Since Jitterbug’s launch in November 2006, the company has been recognized with numerous awards for the phones’ ease of use. Key features of the Jitterbug cell phones, which are specially designed for anyone who wants a simple cell phone experience, include large, backlit buttons, a bright screen with large text for easy viewing, and a soft ear cushion and powerful speaker to improve sound quality.

“It is truly an honor to be named a finalist in The Stevie Awards for Women in Business,” said Arlene Harris, GreatCall’s Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors. “This is a great recognition of the accomplishments GreatCall has made since Jitterbug’s launch, and I am proud that we have been recognized as pioneers.”

Finalists were chosen by business professionals worldwide during preliminary judging. Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs will select Stevie Award winners from among the Finalists during final judging.

“Being named a Finalist in The Stevie Awards for Women in Business is an important achievement,” said Michael Gallagher, President of the Stevie Awards. “It means that independent business executives have agreed that the nominee is worthy of recognition. We congratulate all of the Finalists on their achievement and wish them well in the competition.”

“The Stevie Awards represent an esteemed voice in the business community, and GreatCall is delighted to be a part of this year’s Women in Business program,” said Harris. “This acknowledgment encourages those of us who made Jitterbug what it is today to continue improving and providing communication and technology for all users, regardless of their experience with technology and cell phones.”

With Harris’s vision, Jitterbug has enjoyed rapid growth since its launch and has received prominent national media accolades from the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and the Washington Post, as well as major TV broadcast networks.
